Both of these songs give you that feel-good sensation that comforts the listener. Some of the other happier moments of “Intense” are brought through tracks such as “ Forever is Ours,” featuring the beautiful vocals of Emma Hewitt and “ Waiting for the Night,” featuring the vocals of Fiora. Armin reminds us of this and assures us that we are not alone, that we will always have each other for support. The song reminds us what Trance music is about: it’s not just about the partying and the pulsing rhythms, it’s about bringing people together, uniting us through Trance. “Sometimes we have to look after each other and that’s what this song is about,” says Armin. The song was inspired by an incident she witnessed in Los Angeles when a man fell down on the street and nobody stopped to help him. One track that really struck me was “ Alone,” featuring Lauren Evans. Not only does Armin show us creativity in “Intense,”he gives meaning and depth to the music. What we all need to remember however is that is what artist albums are for: to experiment and for the artist to allow their creativity to flow unhindered.
Some of Armin’s fans who have followed him for years have had mixed reactions towards the latest album because he has drifted from the tried and true sounds of Trance. And if this encourages more people to explore further into the genre and eventually join our Trance Family, then I see no problem with it. Although some see the track as “cheesy” and Armin “selling out,” I tend to disagree and see it as Armin reaching out to a larger audience to introduce Trance to those who would not regularly listen to it. Love it or hate it, there is no escaping the popularity of this track. The music video on YouTube has already received over 3.7 million views as well. I was astonished to hear it played on my local radio station in Belleville, which almost never plays any form of electronic music. The first single off the album, “ This is What it Feels Like” featuring Canadian Trevor Guthrie, is also taking North American radio airwaves by storm, receiving massive support from nearly all mainstream radio stations in the area. Within the first 24 hours of its release, “Intense” was already ranked as the number one selling album on iTunes in Canada and was also smashing the iTunes charts worldwide, ranking in the Top 10 in the United States, South Africa, Russia, Mexico, India, nearly all of the Asian countries, Argentina, Chile, Guatemala, Peru, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Poland to name just a few. It’s been an ‘intense’ three years in the making, but I’m very pleased with the result,” says Armin of his newest album. It’s been an honour to work with such talented artists, singers and songwriters: they’ve really inspired me.
